FlightHub was spotlighted in several major online publications this week, headlined by Canadian news giant Global News and business news site Stockhouse. Here are FlightHub’s top mentions of the week!
Global News asked FlightHub how to grab the best seats on your next flight!
Most airlines will let you select your seats when you purchase your flight online or let you do it later when you confirm your reservation, although some now charge an extra fee for the privilege. If you don’t want to be stranded in the middle seat, then it’s often worth it to fork out the fee. Some airlines’ loyalty programs will give priority access to seat selection for their members so look into that if you fly a lot.
Stockhouse asked us to comment on how the variable Canadian dollar may effect travel in 2016.
While 2016 has just started, 2015 saw the start of this domestic tourism trend. A trend which FlightHub expects could carry on throughout the remainder of the year. Toronto, Vancouver, and Calgary were shown to be statistically on the rise as destinations of choice for Canadians, while other traditional locations like Miami, Phoenix, and Cancun were struggling to close out 2015. FlightHub and Momentum Ventures CEO Matt Keezer explained this domestic vacation shift, “ not just travel data, but takes the time to look into why customers go where they go and it’s clear on our end that Canadians are increasingly choosing to travel within Canada to help limit the impact on their pocketbook while visiting some amazing destinations. This mindful trend not only keeps us steady but also helps the country’s economy as a whole.”
Lastly, Deep South Magazine asked FlightHub about their favourite Southern road trip novel. We went down a darker road and spotlighted Cormac McCarthy’s Blood Meridian
The great American novel is alive and well. While modern classics have built on the shoulders of giants, there is one American novel steeped in acclaim that flies somewhat under the radar, despite the fact its author is one of the greatest living authors. That book is called Blood Meridian. Released in April of 1985, Blood Meridian is the work of author Cormac McCarthy. Known best for his classics No Country For Old Men, The Road, and All The Pretty Horses, Blood Meridian released to little critical acclaim, only to see a resurgence in the decades that followed. FlightHub, a North American online travel agency, is a team loaded with book fiends. In taking a look at their favorite Southern novels, they polled a number of their team members to see which one should be featured in this FlightHub Review of the top Southern novel. Blood Meridian was the unanimous choice.
